On Compassion {Inspirational Quote of the Week}

compassionA human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

  1. Ahh Zeenat ,

The quote by Albert Einstein is beautiful and so true. We all must reach out to each other and love each other for there to be peace and harmony in this world.

    Love you
    xoxo

    1. Dearest Bunny,
Reaching out to each other is sometimes harder than we think. Its easier to reach out to people you know…but to reach out to people you dont know…maybe a street beggar..is sometimes harder. My younger brother who is now in the the loving hands of the lord taught me this. He was so giving and so loving.
It would certainly be a better world if we all were compassionate towards each other.
      Love to you too
      xoxo

  2. Zeenat,
That last sentence is so powerful. Through compassion, we break the chains of barriers that limit us. Compassion….wow, it really is filled with so much goodness…and what an amazing way to experience our world – through the eyes of of deeper compassion for all!

    1. Hi Lance,
I found the last line to be very powerful too…thats why I underlined it 🙂
Compassion is really one of those things that has been forgotten so to say. I hear people doing things out of sympathy for someone….but compassion is far greater an emotion and comes form the purest of hearts…isnt it?
Thank you for you lovely comment as always 😉

  3. When we remove the barriers of separateness we fall passionately in love with Life and realize we are are all one being: human, rock, tree, river, whale and infinite stars. And we are all Love. The sweetness of this experience makes me fall to my knees and weep. Thank you dear friend. Love, Robin

    1. Darling Robin,
We are all indeed One…maybe thats why there is such a strong connection between all of us too..although we are all from such different parts of the world. I think Love and compassion for all of Gods creations is, in its true sense the purest of emotions. I am so happy you liked this quote and felt its magnitude just like me.
      Lots of love.

  4. “He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.”

This delusion can feel so real sometimes that we feel as though we are alone, or we are the only ones who suffer, or someone else’s suffering does not affect us… but none of these are true. At some point we have to realize, we are all one. Only then can we free ourselves from our mental prison and be in a position to truly help others.

    1. Hi Lisis,
Thats so true…we often in hard times feel lost and alone and go into a kind of shell, and think that our problem is the biggest problem, forgetting that there are others out there with greater problems. The minute we realize we are not alone but are ONE with everyone and everything around us that shell breaks away…and we are able to enjoy a more happy and fulfilled life. And as you said in doing so we will be able to even help others and make their lives more fruitful and happy. We will then in all its totality become a compassionate soul.

  5. Oh my gosh, what a fantastic Einstein quote. I never realized he was so in-tune with spirituality, but I’m seeing more and more inspirational quotes from him. Thank you for bringing this out for all of us to read, Zeenat! And that picture, my gosh, it’s absolutely beautiful. It just stopped me when the I first saw it — I had to keep looking at it before I could move on and read the quote.

I am part of the whole, and today that means reminding myself to come from love in everything I do. Some days it feels easier than others – effortless, actually. Other days, I can feel that closed-off sensation Einstein described, and I need to gently guide myself toward love in every thought that I think, word that I speak, and action that I undertake.

Thank you for helping me today, and everyday. I like being part of the whole that you’re a part of, too.
    Love to you, my friend!

    1. Dearest Megan,
I loved that pic too….so breathtaking isnt it!! It just fit so perfectly with this quote too. I dont think there is anything more compassionate than a childs pure heart…
It somehow feels so much better to think of all of us as part of a whole doesnt it? Its kind of reassuring that we will irrespective of the time or distance always be connected. All the world a big huge Heart and we are all part of it. Just thinking about it b=makes me feel all warm and fuzzy 🙂
I love that youre part of my whole too..I am truly blessed that way to have such beautiful souls in my whole and in my life.
Thank you for always being here to spread the joy My Joyful Angel.
Lots of love to you too!

    1. Hi Karen,
So Nice to see your smiley face here 🙂
It is such an insightful quote i just had to share it with the whole blogosphere which now in my eyes is a Whole…and youre included in my whole Universe too. In the great scheme of things as you say…we are all important and are all connected to one another.

  6. Hello dear Zeenat!
This message is as profound as it is very clear. Perhaps one of those things that is so simple we often ignore it in favor of something more intricate and complicated?

This morning, right before reading this, I had just finished reading “12”, the book Lisis had recommended. Your quote and that book go hand in hand! It is a page-turner I’ll tell you – I was addicted to reading it and would put that book on everyone’s must read list!

Thank for this message, Zeenat. It is a lovely affirmation to go into this day with!

    1. HI Suzen,
Am glad you liked this quote. I myself have been meaning to read that book “12” but just havent been able to get my hands on a copy as yet. I guess will have to search more.
Thank you for your lovely comment 🙂

  7. Zeenat, I absolutely love this quote! “Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” Wonderful!

  8. Hi Zeenat,

What a beautiful quote. Like the others, I also LOVE the last line. As I read it I thought of how blogging gives us the ability to do that by – “widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures…” Sweet!

Albert Einstein was truly a remarkable man. I love all of his words of wisdom. Even today, they all hold true.

  9. Hi Zeenat .. first thing I noticed you’ve changed your colours .. I rather liked the icecream pink – and now you’re ruby or brick red .. neither really – but I can’t think of the correct colour .. love the gerbera at the top .. I bought my mother some of those the other day and they stand out .. she loved them. Her room usually ahs 2 or three vases of fresh flowers in ..

The little girl holding the globe .. saying ‘it’s mine’ .. it’s there for the taking – the world is my oyster .. I can do things – she seems to be mulling her future.

The quote – we must open our hearts to all that’s around us, be kind, be gentle, be forgiving .. Einstein was a wise man and it’s great his words live on to inspire us.

    1. Hi Hilary,
Youre such a sweetheart to notice the changes. I am still experimenting with the right colors. I was looking to brighten up the blog a bit…as i got some feedback from some readers to do so. What do you think? I thought something bright and happy like the one i have on now should do.
As for the picture…it truly just drew me in….and fit so perfectly with the einstein quote. We are all ONE and part of a Whole!

  10. Zeenat, I love Einstein’s views. What good company we keep when we include the past masters of thought in our search for meaning!

When we say “God bless our country” we could add, as our own private P.S., “and all creatures everywhere” just to remind us of the oneness in life.

Thanks for finding and sharing this quote, AND the picture!

    1. Jeanne,
Indeed, our History is full of such intelligent people…why shouldnt we be able to learn and attain their insight..isnt it 🙂
Glad you loved the quote and the picture. Such a perfect fit na 🙂

  11. I had never heard this thought by Einstein and so glad you provided it for us. It is a powerful statement, and in my experience, true. Compassion is the key to everything. To our own well-being, to fostering love among all peoples, to healing the wounds that ail us….It is the answer….Thank you for your lovely thoughts and site.

May all beings everywhere be happy, safe, well, peaceful and at ease.

    1. HI Jan, So Nice to see you here.
Compassion is indeed the one emotion thats good for our own wellbeing and that of everybody else as well. And you say it so well-to foster love, to heal wounds…
Thank you Jan for this wonderful insightful comment.
And Amen to your prayer for all beings everywhere to be happy, safe, well, peaceful adn at ease.

  12. Wonderful words to live each moment by.

It amazes me that Albert Einstein was such a well-rounded being. I’ve never read a biography on him but this inspires me to. Yes. I bet it will be a wonderful and inspiring read — like your blog!

  13. “Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

Yes! Over and over and over again, widening our circle like an expansive spiral of love from the One heart that beats in all of Creation.

So glad I discovered your blog today Zeenat.

    Abundant blessings to you,
    Laura
