Take Advantage Of Five Things{Inspiration from Prophet Mohammed(S)}

The Prophet (S) said to Abu Dharr(one of his companions):

O Aba Dharr, take advantage of five things before five other things [take advantage of you]:

  1. Your youth before your old age
  2. Your health before your sickness
  3. Your wealth before your poverty
  4. Your free time before your being busy
  5. And your life before your death

  1. Zeenat,
This says to me that I have right here, before me – much with which to be grateful for. Am I fully experiencing that? It’s a great question, as all we have for sure is this moment. #5 is especially meaningful for me as I think about life in terms of really living…and how much those words mean to me.

    1. Hi Lance,
Really living is what all of us truly need to wake up to. This moment…when we truly truly realize this is the greatest moment to be alive. Life gives us so many bounties…we must recognize them and take advantage of them while there is still time…
And Lance, YOU LIVE..truly truly live! Your every word….your actions….everything radiates LIFE personified!
Thank you for your lovely thoughts here 🙂

  2. Thank you for sharing this, Z. It is the perfect thing for me to read right now. Lately I’ve been wondering if I am in the early stages of perimenopause. I’m young… ish, but not as young as my mind still thinks I am. When I notice new wrinkles on my hands, or signs that things may not be working quite as they used to, or the first gray hair (or three), the message is really brought home to me that even if no tragic accident happens, and I get to live my full life in health, my days here are numbered.

It is time to do something meaningful with the days I have left. I have never felt this more than I do now, and your message today has been a powerful reminder.

Have a magically blessed day, my friend! 🙂

    1. Hi Lisis,
This mind is a wondrous thing…I too feel like i am not growing older. I still know I feel like a that kid who loved to play in the outdoors and still does. Only now with age comes greater responsibilities and understanding….but I still am young at heart..and will remain that way forever and ever 😉 My body on the other hand is going down south 😉
Like you I have been in an introspective state lately, hence this quote. One question that keeps hitting me is “what am I leaving behind that will benefit others long after this body is sand?”
Lets both get together to do something meaningful….
Magical and Blessed day to you too sweetie 🙂

  3. Hi Zeenat,

These are so simple and so powerful. We went to see my mom last week (she will be 90 in Oct.).
After leaving I said to my hubby, “We think of ourselves as old (well OK young-old) but if I live until my mom’s age I have 35+ more years. What do I want to do with them?” My answer lies within all 5 of these points. Thanks for powerful points to ponder as I head into the New Year!

    1. Hi Tess,
My God this means i have nearly 50 more years to live!!! wow….(calculating my grand moms age when she passed away)
But still, more or less …time doesn’t stand still for anyone…its what we do with this time that can shape the future…ours and the worlds.
My new year is going to be working on these points….and hopefully with the loving help from wonderful friends like you…i am sure i will be successful.
Thank you fro your beautiful thoughts 🙂

  4. Hi Z…we obviously live in a dichotomy world and we most certainly want to embrace the good side of it.. Very inspiring post especially for this time of the year… Thanks for sharing …Happy New year to you and your wonderful family 🙂

    1. HI Fatima,
I am glad you liked this 🙂 Its just that time of the year for my own personal introspection….it works for others too 🙂
Happy New year to you and your family too 🙂

  5. Hi Zeenat,

Absolutely so beautiful and so true. So often people take for granted what they have until they lose it. It is very important that we enjoy the blessings that we have when we have them. For life can change in a second.

Love and blessings to you! 🙂

    1. HI Nadia,
I am so with you on this…We have got to start taking advantage of the umpteen blessings we have be given NOW! Our physical bodies can become dust tomorrow…what will live forever are our ideas and deeds….
Love and blessings to you too 🙂

  6. Wow, bang on! The fifth speaks especially well to me. Live every day to its fullest and be grateful for the gift of life. We will never die anyway, so why be preoccupied with it?

Dear Z, This is sooooo sweetly simple it is like the natural wisdom of a child. If we lived by this alone and gave gratitude for these things everyday with time we would awaken to see gratitude in every single moment. We have EVERYTHING to be grateful for. I have found that the more I give heartfelt thanks for everything every day the happier more joy-filled I feel.

This is a POWERFUL message by The Prophet. Often the simplest messages are the most powerful.

I thank you from my heart dear one for creating a space that leaves me feeling supported, peaceful, happy, alive and inspired….and very loved.

In this coming year I wish you all the goodness that you ARE. You give so much so freely…and I relate to that. And you confirm so much for me just in being the dear sincere soul that you choose to be…that you ARE. Much much love, Robin.

  8. There is so much wisdom; yet much of it doesn’t quite get you to the Peace that can be found. There is also much disinformation that is so compelling, so artfully done, that there is only one way to discern the real Truth about anything. My wish for all is that they find the Way to the true Light.
